Council Donates Laptop to Seminarian

This week, Fr. Patrick Hirtz let Greg Krog know that Alberto Mauricio Abeldaño Flores, a seminarian studying at St. Meinrad, had a "catastrophic hard drive failure" on his six-year-old laptop and lost it.  Some of the council officers conferred, and we agreed to use money from our monthly breakfasts to purchase a new laptop for Alberto.  Greg got a Dell laptop from Costco for Fr. Hirtz to take with him to St. Meinrad this weekend.

Thanks to Greg for letting us know of this need, and thanks to those Brother Knights whose work on the breakfasts make it possible for us to help one of our seminarians this way. Great work, guys!

Parish Picnic September 29

This Saturday, September 29, after the 4:30 Mass, enjoy food and fellowship  at the Parish Picnic, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 4312.

We're cooking hot dogs, hamburgers, and s'mores, playing softball and horseshoes, and enjoying the entertainment of the Grizzlies' inflatable obstacle course and slide.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, condiments, graham crackers, marshmallows and hershey bars provided by the Council.  Bring your own favorite soft drinks, potato or pasta salad, cole slaw, baked beans, or other picnic side dish.  Bring your favorite camp chair and enjoy the softball game, or bring your trusty glove and favorite lumber to swing for the fences.

September Breakfast Results

UPDATE: The October breakfast has been moved from the 21st to the 28th, so as not to conflict with the school open house.

Brothers, our September 23 breakfast went great, with only a few minor hitches. Even though our donations were down just a bit, our expenses this month were low, so we ended up raising $289.79 for the diocesan Seminarian Aid Fund.  This brings to $1,246.98 the total we've raised so far in 2012 and $7,730.50 the amount we've raised since we dedicated these breakfasts to the seminarian fund.

Thank you to chairman Erwin Roman for once again organizing a great breakfast.  Thanks to everyone who came to help.

The next breakfast will be Sunday, October 28.  If you have not helped out with one of our events for a while, please put this on your calendar.  We need some more help if we're going to keep putting these on.

Vivat Jesus!

Christmas Card Sales

We are selling Christmas cards as a fundraiser this year.  Proceeds will go into our council charities account.  Eric Granger is spearheading this project, and he needs your help.  We start to take orders this weekend.  We need people to man tables after each of the Masses for the next four weekends.  As you can see, we still have several blank slots on the schedule.  Please check your schedules and let Eric know when you can help.  You can reach Eric at

Here is the Keep Christ in Christmas Order Form.  Feel free to print copies of it and use them to sell cards in other venues.

New Honorary Life Members

Our council has two new Honorary Life members. Brothers Jose Alfaro and Lee Piovarcy have attained this status because of their longtime service in the Order.

Honorary Life membership is awarded to those Brother Knights who have reached 70 years of age and have maintained membership in good standing for at least 25 continuous years.

Please join me in congratulating these two brothers of ours.

Silver Rose

Silver Rose

The Silver Rose prayer service at Holy Rosary went great. We had a total of ten in attendance (not bad for a first time). Grand Knight Adam Williams led the service, with Fr. Martell giving the final blessing at the end.

Prayers for Adam Williams - UPDATE: Adam's Back Home

I just found out that our Grand Knight, Adam Williams, had a heart attack this morning.  I spoke to his son on the phone, who says that Adam is doing OK and may be able to come home from the hospital in a couple of days.  I do not know which hospital he is in.  If anyone has more information, please let me know.

Obviously, while he is recuperating, Adam will not be able to work much.

Keep Adam, Mig and the kids in your prayers.

Update: Adam is back home and says he's doing OK.  Keep the prayers coming!
